The IFIO Girl Story

It started with a problem I needed to solve

My son has special needs. The teaching materials he needed didn’t exist the way I needed them to so I made them. That’s what you do when you’re a mom. You figure it out.

Someone told me other parents and teachers could use what I’d created. So I put them on Teachers Pay Teachers and people downloaded them. That moment taught me something important when you solve a real problem for yourself, chances are you’re solving it for someone else too.

I started calling myself an IFIO Girl. Because that’s what I’ve always done. I’ll Figure It Out. Not because I had all the answers but because giving up was never really an option.

Then I made t-shirts

Because why not? IFIO Girl. Positive statements. Words of encouragement and strength. Print on demand, listed on every ecommerce platform I could find. I trademarked IFIO Girl myself — no attorney, just determination and a whole lot of research.

I built this website myself too.

And slowly — something bigger started taking shape

A Literary Lounge for books with strong characters at the center. A film and TV section celebrating powerful stories. A connections hub pointing people toward communities and resources that actually help. A learning company growing out of those first teaching materials I made for my son.

An ecosystem. Built piece by piece by one woman who just kept figuring it out.

And then — at 60 years old — I built an app

Not because I knew how to build apps. I didn’t. But I kept standing in the wine aisle staring at bottles I’d tried before with absolutely no memory of whether I liked them. Decision fatigue is real. Choice overload is real. And the wine apps that existed felt like they were built for sommeliers not for the rest of us.

So I figured it out.

Pour Recall is a simple wine journal. Snap a photo, give it a thumbs up or down, add a quick note. No jargon. No snobbery. Just your own memory finally organized.

I built it in a no-code platform called Adalo. By myself. At 60.

Because that’s what IFIO Girls do.
